11 Upcoming Mythological Movies Of Bollywood

While we have always found movies just as a source of entertainment, there have been times when the industry went a bit farther than just being entertainment for the people.

Delivering various social messages and depicting the hardships faced by real-life heroes through the creation of biopics has been a recent trend amongst the makers.

And now, to make our experiences even better and enrich us with the golds of our historical pasts, the Bollywood industry has stepped forward to take these histories to the silver screen.

With a rich set of historical pasts and treasures that lie within our culture, there can be uncountable epic tales that remain undiscovered by many.

So, let’s have look at some of the upcoming Bollywood productions that revolve around Indian History and Mythologies:

Chanakya

Regarded as the pioneer of the field of economics and political science, Chanakya was also a royal advisor for the emperor, Chandragupta Maurya. With the Bollywood actor Ajay portraying the classic character of Chanakya, this movie would be a delight for the audiences following his works in the recently released biopic, Bhuj, and previous historical drama film Tanhaji.

With being mounted on a grand scale, this project is headed by Neeraj Pandey and would be the most expensive movie in Ajay’s career.

Being shot in 2 parts, Ajay Devgn will reportedly shave off his head to play the character of Chanakya.

Mahaveer Karna

While we have been amidst the rumors and hopes of various directors trying their hands-on making a film centering on the classic epic Mahabharata for ages, none of them could take this down to the silver screen.

While this epic cannot be just wrapped in a single creation, the makers have decided to rather opt for releasing the movies centering on some particular characters.

Following this, RS Vimal is set to get screens on fire with centering Mahaveer Karna which will narrate the story from Karna’s point of view. Being made on a grand scale with a budget of 300 crores, this film will have the classic actor Vikram in the titular role.

Being made under the banners of Ravi Udyawar and Nitesh Tiwari, the film has yet not decided upon its cast and is under the pre-production process. Rumored to be made on a budget crossing 500 crores, this movie would be released in 3D.

Being one of the most astounding creations from history, the Ram Setu bridge was one of the most eye-catching creations from the past where the logic of floating rocks interconnecting the Rameshwaram to Sri Lanka’s Mannar Island has still not been derived by any.

Built by Lord Rama during the time of Ramayana, some of the remains of this bridge remain intact.

And, to intensify our eagerness towards the same, the upcoming adventure drama with Akshay Kumar as an archeologist, this movie is rumored to make its mark in Diwali 2022.

While the posters of this film are already out, you can spot Akshay Kumar adapting a whole different avatar for the film that adds to the curiosity of the audiences.

Based on the character hailing from one of the historic Hindu scriptures, the Hiranyakashyap was an Asura and king of the daityas.

While we already drool over the actor Rana Daggubati for his power-packed performance in the Bahubaali installments, it would be highly fascinating to see him join hands with director Gunasekhar for the film Hiranyakashyap.

Rumored to be made on a budget amounting to Rs. 180 crores, this film will have the actor essaying the titular role of the eponymous demon king who was executed by Narasimha, that is, by one of the tenth avatars of Lord Vishnu.

The Immortal Ashwatthama

Now, this particular project starring actor Vicky Kaushal as the lead has been one of the most talked-about projects of the Bollywood industry that has been eagerly awaited by the fans.

Though we have already read enough about the major details of this project, it would be highly interesting to see Sara Ali Khan playing the female lead in the film.

Based upon the Immortal Warrior and Guru Dronacharya’s son in the epic Mahabharata, who fought for Kauravas against the Pandavas in the brutal war of Kurukshetra, Vicky Kaushal will be gaining some weight for the role.

Regarded as the prime reason for the epic Mahabharata, this film is said to hit the screens in early 2023 and is still in the pre-production process. While we all have watched Mahabharata numerous times on the small screens, it would be highly interesting to witness a movie just focussing on the powerful character from the epic. Right!?
